- OSF Call Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift
- Non-billable Orientation Hours: 12 hours, guaranteed hours will not apply during orientation

Beds: 63 (49 private, 9 observation beds).
- Nurse: Patient Ratios: 4-5 /RN days 5-6/RN nights.
- Required certifications: BLS
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Post op surgical , trauma, overflow medical, dressing changes, wound care, IV therapy,
pain management, drains, NGs, central lines, TPN.
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: Post-op care of patients, critical thinking skills, ask for help when needed. Good bedside manner,
team player.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips: No
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin only
- Is there a Charge Nurse &/or House Supervisor on each shift Does the charge nurse take an assignment: Yes, they do not take
an assignment (Pre-assigned 2 Charge RNs on each shift). House supervisor 24/7.
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit Ratios Duties: 7-10 patients/PCT-days; 10-15 patients/PC-nights. PCT's
assist with vitals, accu checks, ADL's, turning and ambulation.
- RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot: No vents.
Cpap and high flow. RT manages nebs, RN's manage inhalers and can place patients on CPAP.
- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit Are RNs required to read their own strips What brand are the tele monitors: Yes, some
patients are on telemetry, Phillips monitor, bedside RNs do not read strips, there is a central station for monitor techs.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 0700-1930 for days and 1930-0730 for nights. Will consider block scheduling, must be aprroved at time of
contract. Travelers do not self schedule.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday is the weekend shift.
- Holiday Requirement: Yes, rotate every other holiday.
- Is there Call or a Standby requirement: No.
- Floating Requirements: Travelers are the 1st to float. Will float to unit with same level of experience. If an ICU RN floats to general
unit, they take a team of 3 patients.
- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided: Any color.
- Unit/Department specific orientation: 2 shifts with preceptor, plus one 12 hour shift for EPIC and professional orientation and with
unit educator.
