- Local Rate: Applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles (-$25 to regular and OT bill rates)
- OSF Call Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift
- Non-billable Orientation Hours: 12 hours, guaranteed hours will not apply during orientation

- Nurse: Patient Ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6.
- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS recommended.
- Common diagnosis/Types of patients: MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, pretty
much any lung surgery - lots of chest tubes, esophagectomy (not fresh from PACU), gen med
overflow.
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: EKG interpretation, medication titration; RN licensure, BLS, EKG
interpretation, all basic nursing skills.
- Are RN's required to titrate drips: Yes.
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: We titrate drips mainly Cardizem and heparin.
- Is there a Charge Nurse &/or House Supervisor on each shift: Does the charge nurse take an
assignment: 24/7 charge, rarely take patients. House supervisor 24/7.
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit Ratios Duties: PCTs Days 1:8-9, Eves 1:9-10,
Nights 1: 10-12.
- RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these
besides trouble shoot: Cpap, Bipap if is it is their home regimen, heated high flow only in special
circumstances with COVID patients.
- Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit Are RN's required to read their own strips What brand
are the tele monitors: Yes, Phillips. Nurses must be able to read and interpret. We have monitor
techs.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 12s, 0700-1930 and 1900-0730.
- Weekend Requirements: Every other; Days: Saturday/Sunday. Nights: Friday/Saturday or
Saturday/Sunday.
- Holiday Requirements: Yes, rotation; Holidays are: Days: Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day. Nights: Memorial Day Eve, July 3rd, Labor Day Eve,
Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, New Years Eve.
- Is there Call or a Standby requirement: Not at this time.
- Floating Requirements: Float to other general medical units.
- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided: Any color, not children/cartoon type prints as we are an
adult unit.
- Unit/Department Specific Orientation: Typically 1 shift or part of one - depends on if they have
been at an OSF facility previously.
